Become a Research Mentor, Assistant or Affiliate

Thrive Research group seeks doctoral students and advanced graduate students to provide training, mentorship and support to undergraduate students researching topics in counselling and clinical psychology. 

While the group emphasizes vocational psychology, it covers research across counselling and clinical psychology.

 

Research mentors help students by having them work on a sample project and/or support student-led projects.  Their duties include:

  • Scheduling regular consultations with research assistants

  • Ensuring research assistants fill out their hour log

  • Providing regular evaluation of RA performance

  • Grading research summaries

  • Supporting the development of training materials to support students

  • Interviewing prospective research assistants

  • Helping improve and develop research processes

Research mentors are expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and adhere to all organizational policies.

  • All Thrive research projects adhere to the CRediT system (https://credit.niso.org/) for author attribution

  • All research mentors are expected to adhere to the code of conduct and anti-discrimination policies

  • Strong writing skills, preferably examples of academic writing

  • Ability to work independently and in a team
